Deniz Akyurt is a visual artist based in Izmir, Turkey. She graduated from the Painting Department of Hacettepe University Faculty of Fine Arts. Her practice explores the relationship between the individual and the social structures that shape everyday life, focusing on space, boundaries, belonging, isolation, and the changing conditions of living together. Working across painting and collage, she combines found images, newspaper fragments, text, fabric, and painterly interventions. Fragmentation, layering, covering, and reconstruction are central to her visual language. Through these processes, she examines how personal experience intersects with broader social realities and how individual and collective memory can coexist within the same pictorial space.
